Environmental & Net Zero Commitment
Clear Flow Drainage & Civil Engineering Ltd is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and working towards Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
As a drainage and civil engineering contractor, we recognise that our main environmental impacts come from vehicle fuel, plant and machinery, energy use, waste, materials and travel.
We are committed to reducing these impacts wherever reasonably practical while continuing to provide a reliable, high-quality service to our customers.
Our Approach
We are working to reduce our carbon footprint through measures including:
- reducing unnecessary vehicle journeys through better job planning and routing
- maintaining vehicles and plant to improve fuel efficiency
- reducing unnecessary engine idling
- using local suppliers where practical
- reducing, reusing and recycling waste wherever possible
- using trenchless drainage repair methods, including patch lining, where suitable to reduce excavation, spoil and reinstatement
- using CCTV drainage surveys to accurately identify defects and avoid unnecessary excavation
- reducing paper use through digital reports, quotations and job records
- considering lower-emission vehicles, plant and equipment as the business grows
- monitoring fuel, energy and waste so that we can identify further opportunities to reduce emissions
Measuring Our Progress
We aim to improve how we measure and monitor our carbon emissions over time, including emissions associated with:
- company vehicles and fuel
- plant and machinery
- electricity use
- waste disposal
- business travel
- purchased materials and services
We will review our environmental performance regularly and update our carbon reduction actions as the business develops.
Our Net Zero Target
Our long-term target is to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest.
We will review this target annually and aim to reduce emissions sooner wherever practical and commercially achievable.
Responsibility
Responsibility for our Net Zero and carbon reduction commitments sits with the management of Clear Flow Drainage & Civil Engineering Ltd.
This page will be reviewed at least annually to reflect our progress, changes to our operations and any new environmental initiatives.
